![]() ![]() If you’re a fan of simple, Arcade-style Action, this is a must-have. As I said above, Ultratron is an excellent 2-Stick Shooter that evokes the classics of the past while giving players plenty of options to upgrade throughout the game. I don’t know that there’s anything else I can add here. Players can choose to bulk up their shields after they’ve been damaged and grab extra bombs, strengthen their main weapon, recruit drones to follow them around, or numerous other upgrades that gradually unlock as you play through the game (and as you can afford them). These issues aside, Ultratron is a fantastic, simple 2-Stick Shooter with tons of enemies to fight, and plenty of upgrades to choose from in-between levels, purchased using earnings you pick up as you go. Also, I have to add another complaint here - one of the enemies emits and incredibly irritating noise that had me reaching to turn down the volume whenever they showed up. The visuals here are actually one of the problems with this game - your robotic enemies blend into these dark backgrounds so well that you could easily inadvertently stumble over one while running around. The 2D visuals in this game continue this trend, with similarly black backgrounds, albeit with more detail on the floor. This game uses an aesthetic that evokes Atari era classics, particularly Berzerk, with its digitized robotic voice announcing tonelessly “Kill the human!”. In this game, players attempt to survive round after round of fights with hordes of robots while upgrading their loadout in between rounds. Ultratron is an Arcade-style 2-Stick Shooter released in 2015 on PC, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, PlayStation Vita, Xbox One, and Wii U.
